See the Best of Venice: Saint George island, Murano and the Square of Saint Mark

The Best of Venice private guided tour will start at Venice Cruise Port. Your guide will meet you at the cruise terminal. First of all, you will sail with a private water taxi along the Giudecca Canal to reach the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. The church of Saint George, built in the 16th C., is among Andrea Palladio‘s greatest architectural achievements. The major works of art in the church are two large paintings by Tintoretto: The Last Supper and the Gathering of the Manna. An impressive choir-stalls  right behind the Main Altar will draw your attention, before taking the elevator to reach the top of the bell tower. Especially relevant will be the incomparable superb panorama of Venice and its Lagoon you will enjoy from there.

The Best of Venice tour will continue and take you to the island of Murano, sailing by the Lido Island, the church of Saint Peter, formerly the Cathedral of Venice, and the old Shipyard. In Murano you will visit one of the major glass making factories where the worldwide renowned handmade glass is produced.

To reach Saint Mark’s Square, you’ll ride through some of the typical small canals of Castello district. The tour will continue with an orientation walk through the most famous Square in the world, surrounded by majestic buildings dating from the 11th to the 19th Century.

Venice with Kids: The Complete Family Guide to One of the World’s Most Extraordinary Cities

The most common concern parents have about bringing children to Venice is that the city will not be child-friendly. No playgrounds (or very few), lots of bridges to carry pushchairs over, a complex street network that seems designed to confuse adults let alone children, and the general assumption that culture-heavy destinations are better suited to […]

Venice Walking Tour: Three Routes, Every Kind of Visitor, One Extraordinary City

Everything and everyone moves on foot across the 400 bridges that connect the city’s 118 islands, through the network of calli (streets), sotoporteghi (covered passageways), campielli (small […]
