Description

Enjoy the Venice Experience: the Doge’s Palace, ice cream and gondola!

The Venice Experience private guided tour starts at the cruise terminal of Venice. Your guide will meet you by your ship check-point and will take you by boat to the Square of Saint Mark. This is the hub of Venice surrounded by the most sumptuous buildings of the city. You will visit the Doge’s Palace, once the headquarter of Venice government for over a thousand years. It was at the same time the residence of the Doge of Venice. The exquisite building is richly ornamented both inside and outside.

Your guide will narrate the peculiar political system of the Most Serene Republic, and illustrate the paintings of Tintoretto and Veronese. The huge  Chamber of the Grand Council contains the largest canvas in the world, and offers a beautiful view over the Basin of St Mark . You will then walk through the celebrated Bridge of Sighs and visit the State prison of the Venetian Republic.

You will then take an orientation walk around Saint Mark’s Square, to admire all the surrounding monuments, before taking a break and sitting at one of the renown elegant coffee houses of the Square of Saint Mark, to enjoy an ice-cream, or a drink, and listen to their music entertainment.

Your Venice Experience will continue with a relaxing gondola ride: your gondolier will paddle you through the silent canals of the City as well as through the Grand Canal.

On request we can organize an optional transfer back to the ship.
