Description

Venice Three Islands Tour: Murano, Burano and Torcello.

Venice Three Islands Tour will take you to the most famous islands of the Venetian Lagoon: Murano, Burano and Torcello. An extremely relaxing tour, which combines many different characteristics of Venice. You will enjoy the natural beauty, craftsmanships, a genuine fisherman village atmosphere and the history of the earliest days.

Murano is the island famous for its glass making, a traditional activity that still preserves the ancient techniques of the past. You will admire the glass masters  producing the beautiful objects which have made them famous all over the world.

Burano  is the most cheerful, and one of the most populous islands of the lagoon. Its brightly painted houses give it the air of an Italian opera set. The success of its most important industries, like lace making, fishing and boat building, accounts for the well-being of its people. Yet lace is not the only attraction: the bright colours of the  houses, all different from each other, are outstanting. This is also the place where the best typical Venetian food can be tasted, as well as very good cookies.

Venice Three Islands Tour continues then to Torcello, the island considered the “Mother of Venice”.  Here the earliest waves of refugees escaping the Barbarian invasions from the Mainland settled down between the 5th and 7th centuries.

Today the island is nearly uninhabited (residents being reduced to 10). Covered by a rich typical vegetation, Torcello preserves the oldest monument of the Lagoon. The solemn Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, founded in 639 and rebuilt in 1008, decorated with outstanding Byzantine mosaics.

A very relaxing and enjoyable tour!
