Description

Relaxing Venice tour to visit Venice at your own pace!

Relaxing Venice tour begins with a general overview of Venice’s highlights. Walking through the  Square of St. Mark you will learn about all its magnificent buildings.  The Doge’s Palace was the seat of the government when Venice was an independent State. The Bridge of Sighs  links the palace to the New Prison, dates from 16th C. The Campanile (Bell Tower) dominates the Square from its 300 feet. You will admire the beautiful Clock Tower with its impressive dial, and the outstanding Basilica of St. Mark. Entering the Basilica (skipping the line!) you’ll be amazed by the  mosaics and the especially relevant Golden Screen (Pala d’Oro).

Leaving the crowd behind, strolling about the narrow alleys, you will see the non-touristy areas of the city. While enjoying its outstanding architecture, you will explore some of the nooks and crannies of Venice.

While you’ll sit back and relax on a luxury boat, your guide will introduce the Lagoon and the charming islands. The first stop will be at Murano, where you’ll admire the skillful glass masters blowing and shaping extraordinary works of art. Furthermore,  learning about the history of  Murano glass making, you’ll realize how this artisanal production boasts a tradition of over a thousand years.

Relaxing Venice will also take you to the quaint, and picturesque old fishermen village of Burano.  The island is known for the colors of its houses, and most of all for lace making.

To make the most of your  day you might consider to enjoy a delicious lunch in Burano at one of the best seafood restaurants of the Lagoon (not only seafood though!). We’ll be pleased to suggest you the best options.

While riding back to Venice, you’ll pass by other islands, and one of the port of mouth of the Lagoon.

Domenico Tramontin: the silent architect behind Venice’s iconic gondola

When we think of Venice, our minds often drift to the slow, graceful glide of gondolas beneath romantic bridges and along narrow canals. The Greek Presence in Venice and the story of San Giorgio dei Greci

Tucked away in the Castello district of Venice lies one of the city’s most fascinating and lesser-known treasures: San Giorgio dei Greci, the historic Orthodox church that stands as a testament to centuries of Greek presence in Venice.
